PALL Juniors Captures First Place

 

May 22, 2021.  Min Jae Kim powers the Palo Alto Juniors to their historical first place finish in this Spring’s 5480 District 52 Division in a season ending 10-9 comeback win in Redwood City. He went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs along with a single and a double, driving in 5 of the team’s 7 RBI’s.  Rylan See went 2 for 5, with Jackson Sims and Emmett Stewart each driving in a run to complete the Palo Alto offense which came alive late in the game. Behind 6-3, Palo Alto erupted for 7 runs in the top of the sixth.

Anders Lo held RWC to 2 unearned runs, striking out 3. Gus Soedarmono struck out 5 in relief and Rylan See closed the last 2 innings with a game ending strike out to end the RWC rally one run short. Augie Jaqua had a diving catch in left field to help secure the win.

The D52 Juniors program plays on a 5480 field for 13-14 yr. olds using regular baseball rules. It is the fastest growing youth baseball program in the Bay Area and has become the next step after Little League Majors.  This Spring, 17 teams across the peninsula competed recovering from last year’s pandemic outburst which ended all youth baseball for 2020.

Palo Alto came back this year with a vengeance going 11-3 in a tight race for first in which only 2 wins separated the top 6 teams. Min Jae set a Palo Alto record hitting 5 home runs and led the team hitting .667. Anders Lo led the pitching staff with 43 K’s. Palo Alto is managed by Justin Ferrell with coaches Felix Lo and Jason Tomita

The D52 Juniors Tournament start this Tues at El Camino Park at 5pm. Palo Alto vs Alpine2 or Belmont Redwood Shores.
