Palo Alto Little League Umpire Program

Umpires are important members of our youth baseball program. By virtue of his/her role, the Little League umpire provides leadership and represents authority on the field. All managers, coaches, spectators, and players should cooperate, understand, and respect the umpire's judgment in applying Little League rules.

Serving as an umpire is a great way to stay engaged with baseball and to be a part of Palo Alto Little League, especially for our players after they have aged out of playing in the Majors division.  The experience will teach our youth responsibility, discipline, commitment, and community service that will offer life-long rewards.

Requirements:

  • Umpires must be Little League age 13 or older for the upcoming Spring season at the time they sign up to become an umpire.
  • Baseball/softball experience and knowledge is preferred and helpful.
  • Every first-time umpire must complete both (i) Rules and (ii) Field Mechanics training provided by PALL. Experienced umpires are strongly encouraged to attend the Rules training before the Spring season starts as some of the rules may have changed since you last attended.

For those interested in umpiring for 2024 Fall Ball, you must register on this form in order to receive relevant communications.

For questions, please reach out to the umpire coordinator at umpires@pabaseball.org.
